Wireless Internet is a
new and rapidly growing technology. At this time most of the suppliers
of the service is small local companies at a reasonable charge.
Soon the big wireless carriers will move in and regulate the little
guys out of the business. Of course your rate will also get a lot
bigger and you will loose your local support number.
Wireless Internet is very stable in adverse weather conditions.
You do not have the “rain fade” like you get with
satellite TV, but you must have a direct line of sight to the
main tower.
Large temperature swings, 25 to 30 degrees "temperature inversions" can
temporarily interrupt service since we are transmitting over
mostly water in the Ozello area.
Since we have been in the wireless business about 90% of our down
time has been from loss of connection to the Internet from our suppliers,
ATT, Sprint, Road Runner ect.
Wireless Internet should not be compared to other services like
DSL or Cable Broadband since it is a completely different type
of
service. Since the system is "shared" between all users the speed
depends on overall system usage. Any way you look at it, it is
a lot faster
and reliable
than
a dialup.
